Galveston Was GREAT!!!! Print E-mail

The AMTA Texas Chapter held its Annual Conference April 30 - May 2, 2010.  Those who attended can attest it was a great time of education and fun.

The weekend started with a Student AMTA brunch, followed by Sandy Fritz's course of business ethics.  The course was entitled Practical Ethics.  "Ethical behavior is expected from professionals.  Questions arise because ethical behavior is not able to be defined as an either/or concept.  Therefore how do we make ongoing ethical decisions in our professional world?  That's the question that were explored."

Friday night the Pirates landed at the Conference and partying at the business meeting ensued!  Prior fiscal years goals were discussed, awards were given - including Meritorious Award winner, Marta Lucas.  The budget was discussed and approved.  Elections held - with no contested positions - and officers were sworn in.

Then Saturday Savitri led a group through morning yoga/pilates, getting the blood flowing.

James Waslaski presented his two seminars Saturday and Sunday, May 1st and 2nd.   The first 6 hour course on Saturday was 'Orthopedic Massage for Complicated Shoulder Conditions.'  The second 6 hour course on Sunday was 'Pelvic Stabilization - The Key to Structural Integration and Complicated Knee Conditions.'

There were many exhibitors at the conference offering examples, selling products and promoting education seminars.  These included:  AOBTA, Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy, Earth Angel Oils, It Works Marketing, Massage Envy (which also donated name badge wallets), Petals for Healing, Stretch 4 Life, The Center for Pain Management, 'The Massage Lady', Young Living Oils and AMTA-TX
